People often ask me what the meaning is behind my tattoos.
Nothing else matters is a Metallica song that my boyfriend (at the time – he is now my husband) used to play to me when we first got together in high school. It is also the song that I walked down the isle to. It took on extra meaning when I got sick and I listened to it over and over again while I was in hospital. It really kept me focussed on why I wanted to get better and it gave me strength. My husband even bought me a body pillow (because I was having trouble sleeping without him by my side) and had it embroidered with the words Nothing Else Matters. If you aren’t familiar with the song you can listen to it here:
So these days Nothing Else Matters for me EXCEPT my health (and my hubby)!
The flowery swirl was actually my logo when I owned a couple of flower shops in a previous life (before I got sick). Running and building that business was the biggest achievement of my life so far and so now that it is finished (thanks to floods and the global financial crisis and my illness) I wanted a momento to remind me what I am capable of.
So I have one tattoo that keeps me grounded and one tattoo that reminds me to dream big.
